Nepal Earthquake Appeal

What is the situation?

A deadly 7.8 magnitude earthquake has struck Kathmandu, Nepal, killing close to 5,000 people. That number is expected to rise. It's estimated 8 million people have been impacted.

Aftershocks continue and devastation is widespread. There are estimates of up to 90% of homes destroyed in some regions. Temporary camps are being set up for families.

What is World Vision doing?

  • Assess damage and provide urgent aid distribution
  • Providing first aid kits, sleeping mats, blankets, water, temporary shelter, and hygiene essentials
  • Setting up Child Friendly Spaces so that children have a safe place to deal with their trauma. 
  • A plan to reach 100,000 people, by that number will increase.

World Vision is currently responding in the worst-affected areas of Lamjung, Gorkha, Bhartapur, Lalitpur, and Kathmandu districts.
